Gaps of Boredom

Our Mind is the most dynamic traveller and critical thinker created by God to Worship Him and to explore the depths of His majesty which can't be perceived by the physical being. Whenever we are engaged in a certain activity, the mind redirects the thought process towards the activity but when we aren't doing anything, the mind doesn't stop thinking. It needs something to think upon, it needs something to pedal the cycle which is going down the hill and our mind picks up the activity which our flesh desires to do and it starts to think in that direction. Try some introspection and think of that one mobile application or game which you open so frequently that there's no reason to open that app but still your boredom has programmed your mind to open that app or game that the reflex works without even considering the reason. It might be Facebook feed, Whatsapp, Insta feed or any addictive game but you're so habituated to it that you do it all the time without even realising that you're becoming a slave of it. Devil likes to work behind the scenes in the explore tab and likes to sneak in to your feed to trigger a thought process that makes or breaks your entire day and its so subtle that we don't even realize. Everyone has that one thing, whether it's social media, or a hobby or a person that takes over the gap of boredom. There's nothing wrong in having it but it becomes a problem when it enslaves you and the worst part is you'll never recognize it. Once taken away from you, you'll feel kind of empty (in the most subtle way) and suddenly you'll find that there's enough room in your mind to think about other productive things. Mind is capable to do so many things that are beyond any limitations but we limit our minds by filling these tiny gaps of boredom by social sites, video games or people. Birthplace to every feeling or habit is the Mind and these external forces control our mind, peers and television are the primary reasons while mobile phones remain the secondary. A foolish mind will deny these allegations for it believes that the remote is still in it's hands. When the mind is controlled by the word of God, the first thing that mind of Christ will tell you is to Deny your flesh..(we'll discuss this later in the next article) Let us consider what we can do to fully optimize the potential of our Mind in regards to our calling.
1) Find out that thing which enslaves your mind during the times when you're feeling bored or alone to which you're habituated and say bye bye to it.
2) Serve the Lord with your mind by feeding it daily with the Word of God.
I thank God; through Jesus Christ our Lord! ; So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. (Romans 7:25)

Boredom takes our mind back to Egypt even when we're headed towards the promised land. It chooses Familiarity over Purpose by revisiting the memories instead of being in awe of God's Greatness. In the next article we'll be discussing about the food we need to feed our minds during such situations in the "Appetite of our Mind".
