GRACE

GRACE   “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and MUCH GRACE was with them all” (Acts4 : 33).   “From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch where they had been  COMMITTED TO THE GRACE OF GOD  for the work they had now completed” (Acts14 : 26). Why was the grace of God so important in the experience of the early Christians? Why did the church in Antioch pray that the GRACE of God would be upon Paul and Barnabas and later on Paul and Silas, as they set out on their missionary journeys?   A. THE MEANING OF GRACE   The most common understanding of the word “grace” is “God’s unmerited favor” in other words, even though we were sinners deserving of judgement God looked upon us in And forgave us.   This however is only half its meaning. It also means “God enabling power”. “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God  our Father who loved us and by ...

Why is Praising God Important?

Why is  Praising  God Important? The book of Psalms is the praise book of the Bible, and it gives us hundreds of reasons why praise is important, as well as examples of how to give praise to God.  In examining those reasons and examples, one thing becomes clear.  “It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High...” (Psalm 92:1). Praise is a good thing. That means it is pleasant, valuable, and morally excellent. Psalm 147:1 tells us that praise is beautiful and agreeable. When we consider the reasons why we should praise God, we find a list of His attributes.  He is full of glory (Psalm 138:5), great (Psalm 145:3), wise and powerful (Daniel 2:20), good (Psalm 107:8), merciful and faithful (Psalm 89:1), and much more. This list of attributes is complemented by a list of His wonderful works.  He is the One who saves us (Psalm 18:46), Keeps His promises (1 Kings 8:56), Pardons sin (Psalm 103:1-3)...

Benny Prasad: A Living Testimony To God's Power

Benny  Prasad : A Living  Testimony  To God's Power Benny Prasad was born on 6th august 1975 in Bangalore, India. Benny was the first of his generation in the family. His birth was celebrated with the highest of hopes for his future. But his was not a promising start - he suffered from severe asthma which required him to take cortisone steroids from which he developed rheumatoid arthritis, 60 % lung damage and an immune system regularly failing him, which threatens his life even to this day. His parents believed that these terrible early difficulties would only make his success all the more blessed and honourable.  He was expected to excel in his studies, to set an example for his younger brother and sisters. He struggled to live up to such pressures. His father a highly regarded scientist at the National Aerospace Laboratories, spent a lot of time trying to drill mathematics and science into Benny but in vain. Instead he mastered a fiery and quick te...

Jesus is the Word of God

Jesus  is  the  Word  of God "What do John 1:1,14 mean when they declare that Jesus is the Word of God?" The answer to this question is found by first understanding the reason why John wrote his gospel. We find his purpose clearly stated in John 20:30-31.  “Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”  Once we understand that John’s purpose was to introduce the readers of his gospel to Jesus Christ, establishing Who Jesus is (God in the flesh) and what He did, all with the sole aim of leading them to embrace the saving work of Christ in faith, we will be better able to understand why John introduces Jesus as “The Word” in John 1:1. By starting out his gospel stating, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with...

The Movement Continues - Max Lucado

The Movement Continues -  Max Lucado The belief of French philosopher Voltaire: The Bible and Christianity would pass within a hundred years. He died in 1778. The movement continues. The pronouncement of Friedrich Nietzsche in 1882:  “God is dead.” The dawn of science, he believed, would be the doom of faith.  Science has dawned; the movement continues . The way a Communist dictionary defined the Bible:  “It is a collection of fantastic legends without any scientific support.”  Communism is diminishing; the movement continues. The discovery made by every person who has tried to bury the faith: The same as the one made by those who tried to bury its Founder: He won’t stay in the tomb. The facts.  The movement has never been stronger. Over one billion Catholics and nearly as many Protestants. The question.   How do we explain it? Jesus was a backwater peasant. He never wrote a...

Cottage - Heavy Voltage

We run family retreats but we neglect family prayers, as preachers we give much time for public meetings but we have no time for private meetings with God. We are interested in huge numbers and love to preach at huge gatherings but forsake small gatherings. We have time for crusade meetings but no time for cottage meetings, we preach in prayer conferences but not in prayer cells, where only two or three gather  (Where Christ is present). We may be busy with huge meetings but let us also give time for small meetings. We may always stand before thousands of people yet let us also sit before individuals to care and counsel. As pastors, preachers and gospel workers let us not neglect small meetings, prayer cells, cottage meetings and personal evangelism. Remember  John Wesley  who shook England with his message was converted not in a public meeting where a World famous preacher preached but in a small mid week prayer meeting when a common preacher read...

Mary Khoury - Everyone has a Vocation

Mary Khoury, a teenager who lived through Lebanon’s civil war, a conflict that went on from 1975 to 1992. Fanatical Muslims forced their way into Mary’s home one day, waving pistols at the entire family and threatening,  “If you do not become a Muslim, you will be shot.” Mary knew that Jesus had once been given a similar choice. Jesus had been told to renounce His claim to be Savior of the world so that He could avoid the cross. But Jesus knew that without His death and resurrection, no human being could never have eternal life with God. So, Jesus went to the cross. Mary decided that she would not renounce Jesus. Mary told the men, “I was baptized as a Christian, and [God’s] word came to me: ‘Don’t deny your faith.’ I will obey [God]. Go ahead and shoot.” With that, Mary heard a gun go off behind her and she fell limply to the ground. Sometime later, the Red Cross found the bodies of Mary’s family members. Miraculously, Mary, on the floor next to them,...
