Seperated and Soaked
Daily Walk through the Psalms
26 September 2017
Read Psalms 1:3-6 (NIV)
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prosper Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Separated and Soaked
in His Presence
Yesterday’s devotion I mentioned that God blessed us so that
we might be a blessing to others. But He has given us certain conditions for
receiving these blessings. Let us see what they are.
First, we must be separated from the world
(vs 1). Now here the world is anything
that separates us from God or causes us to disobey Him. Separation is not
isolation but contact without contamination.
Sin is a gradual process. Notice
in verse 1. He is walking (Mk 14:54), standing
(Jn 18:18) and then sitting (Lk
22:55). Becoming wordly is a process. First we make friends with the world;
then gradually we love the world, become confirmed to it and end up condemned
with it. Lot is an example who became worldly. He looked towards Sodom, pitched
his tent toward Sodom, live there, lost everything and ended in sin.
Second, we must be soaked with the Word (vs
2). Whatever delights us directs us. We soak ourselves with the Word by
meditating on it and by doing so we allow the Spirit of God within us to
“digest” the Word of God for us. So then not only do we delight in the Word,
but now it becomes for a source of spiritual nourishment for us.
Enjoy the blessings God has for you and allow Him to make
you a blessing to others.
Let us pray:
Father, we ask you to help to be separated from the world
and keep ourselves soaked and saturated in the Word so that we will not miss
your blessings. Help us to meditate on your Word and obey it so that we can be
a blessing to others. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen !
