He(Jesus) said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

-Matthew 16:15

Jesus didn't ask the disciples this question because he had an identity crisis. Nor did Jesus forgot who he was. He asked the disciples this question because he wanted them to discover the revelation of who he actually is.

From the very beginning of the world, God has always been a revealer of his great plans, love, grace, mercy, compassion, provision, protection etc.

God reveals Himself in the Old Testament:


- Abraham got a revelation of God as Jehovah Jireh - God who provides in Genesis 22:13-14

- Exodus 3:2-8 Moses got a revelation of God as the deliverer at the burning bush, which was later fulfilled in Exodus 12:41-42

- Elijah got a revelation of God who answers by Fire in 1 Kings 18:24. God didn't put Elijah to shame in front of the prophets of Baal.

- David the shepherd boy in his younger days got a revelation of God as His Shepherd in Psalms 23

- Jonah the prophet got a revelation of God's Love which supersedes His anger & wrath when people wholeheartedly repent and turn to God in obedience - Jonah 3: 6-10

Jesus reveals Himself in the New Testament


- The widow of the town of Nain who lost her only son got a revelation of Jesus as a dead raiser and restorer of Life - Luke 7: 11-17

- The Samaritain women at the well got a revelation of Jesus firsthand as the Messiah, who revealed to her everything about her past - John 4:1-26

- The 10 leapers got a revelation of Jesus as their Healer - Luke 17: 11-19

- The Centurion got a revelation of Jesus's authority by the faith that he displayed - Mathew 8: 5-13

The list of people who have got a revelation of God is endless...Our God is endless. Jesus is not confined to just being a Healer or Deliverer or Provider or Restorer or Bondage breaker or Protector. He is your All in All. What revelation of himself do you want Him to show you today?

Whatever be the situation you are going through in life, Jesus is still asking, who do you say that I am? Are you hungry to get a new revelation of God? I am...

Prayer :

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving me a deeper insight about who you are and your Revelation that is beyond comprehension. Satisfy my hunger and thirst for your word so that I can be filled with a new revelation of who you are. In Jesus name.
